Details
The Iron Dome is part of Israel's evolving five tier missile defense system. The $215 million project would intercept extremely short range mortar fire and rockets up to 40 kilometers away. The system, championed by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, is designed to protect against the homemade rockets launched from Gaza and Southern Lebannon.
